YUVA INNOVATION CHALLENGE


Innovation acts as the most important driving force behind a flourishing economy of semi-urban & rural communities. With the global exposure through disruptive technologies, semi-urban and rural communities referred to as Bharat require innovative solutions to broaden the Bharat production base from traditional activities into more productive sectors that enable semi-urban and rural communities to enhance their livelihoods and well-being.

YUVA Entrepreneurship Program is a Bridge to Entrepreneurship, aiming to promote the student's community on innovations & entrepreneurship, and thereby creating an aspiring student entrepreneur/startup.

YUVA Innovation Challenge is an initiative of the YUVA Entrepreneurship Program inviting students of North Karnataka, aspiring to become entrepreneurs, who are working on product-based solution for the problems of the rural and semi-urban communities in any sector, and are planning to convert their Ideas into Prototypes.


Objective



General Guidelines:

Eligibility criteria:

    Any innovator applying for the grant has to be an Indian citizen with a government approved proof of nationality such as a valid passport, voter’s id etc. The applicant should be in the age group of minimum of 12 years, as on date of application.

The Innovator can be:

  • Individual person or Team of innovators: IP generated would vest with the innovator/team and it would be further taken for commercialization
  • Founders/co-founders of start-up
    (a) At the time of application, the period of existence of a start-up and its operations should not exceed 7 years from the date of incorporation
    (b) Company should not have annual turnover exceeding Rs. 25 lakhs for any of the financial year
    (c) IP generated would vest with the start-up
  • Employee or students with any R&D organization/academic institution
    (a) It is mandatory that the innovators pursuing this project should have the project know how and own the IP
    (b) The innovator has to seek the NOC from their organization/institution. The NOC should have the following:
        (i) Permission to apply and the innovator will be granted sufficient time to work on the project
        (ii) IP generated would vest with the innovator/team and it would be further taken for commercialization

The Grants can however be not used for/by:

  • Innovators/start-up who do not/will not own the project know-how/IP
  • Funding research student/internship in academic institution or R&D organization
  • Innovators/team/start-up who is already supported once under NIDHI PRAYAS
  • Innovators who do not have the necessary NOC on IP, granting sufficient time to work on the project from their respective organization/institution/College
  • Innovator supported under NIDHI-EIR in parallel with NIDHI-PRAYAS
  • Innovators who do not have a roadmap/will towards commercialization
  • Ideas purely relating to Software/App development
